“The first step whenever I get a new client is really getting to know the company. I watch the intake calls. I'm taking notes. I'm seeing the questions people are asking and doing research, honing in on exactly what the company is looking for.”


And she doesn’t mean a type of engineer or a role title, but rather the kind of person who can deliver what the hiring manager is looking for. "So when I come across a candidate I know is perfect for this company, I can pitch the company to them. This was my approach when it came to Lantern and Hightouch.”


Grecia aims for an equally deep understanding of her candidates and their goals, so she can suggest aligned companies. Usually, her candidate will jump on the opportunity to advance their career at the right place, even if they weren’t previously looking to make a move.

“My candidate wasn’t actively looking, but he was interested in what I had to share because I work with all these interesting companies. I have access to both clients at RFS and on Paraform. That’s what made it so compelling for him to continue working with me.”

She’s extremely intentional about the types of companies she pitches candidates, so they trust her in the search. When Lantern was hiring for their senior software engineer, Grecia knew her client Michael would be a good fit. It was the second role she pitched him, and it was a great match.

Knowing top talent has network effects.

Even if her candidates really aren’t looking to switch, they’ll introduce her to top talent who are. Her initial candidate for the Hightouch role wasn’t looking for a job. But he introduced her to Josh.


Josh wasn’t actively looking either, but he was willing to talk to Grecia after learning about the companies she was working with. She connected him to Hightouch. And around a month later, he was starting at their office.

“Because I build relationships with the highest-caliber talent, I know everyone they refer will also be a top candidate. So even if they’re not looking right now, I'm always sharing the types of roles and companies I’m working with, in case they know someone who’d want to connect.”

Grecia leverages this network effect to get in touch with many candidates who would otherwise never speak to a recruiter.


Top candidates get an influx of messages. So Grecia is always asking, “how can I be the one recruiter that they’re actually going to respond to? How do I get in front of top talent?”


Her secret to high response rates? She’s extremely direct.

"I don’t fluff it up. I’m don’t use flowery language. I explain what roles I have and what a company can offer. I give candidates all the information about my clients upfront, the types of people you'd work with, and see if it sounds interesting to them.”

So even if I make a connection with one role on Paraform, I’m always sending 2-3 more, and people are thrilled to have so many cool companies to choose from.”
