The project is brand new with an ambitious roadmap ahead. We started building in stealth in February, completed a successful technical pilot over the summer, and just announced the open-source project (September).

We’ve raised from FirstMark (backed ClickHouse), Bessemer (backed Anthropic), Bedrock (backed OpenAI), and many angels. We’re lucky to have years of runway, giving us flexibility to fully focus on open source for now with an ambitious long-term vision.

Role
We are looking for a Founding Member of Technical Staff with a background in systems engineering (esp. Rust).

Why not “engineer”? We’re not going to make a distinction between engineers and researchers to encourage people to have cross-functional scope and impact. Our CTO has a PhD in reinforcement learning but also writes infrastructure code in Rust.

Our model gateway, written in Rust, is the backbone of the project. As a preview, if you joined today, you'd work on features ranging from inference-time optimizations (e.g. dynamic in-context learning) to advanced experimentation ("built-in Statsig"). Team & Culture
We’re a technical team of two based in NYC (in person). As an early contributor, you’ll work closely with us and have a significant impact on the project’s future and vision.

Viraj Mehta (CTO) recently completed his PhD from Carnegie Mellon, with an emphasis on reinforcement learning for LLMs and nuclear fusion, and previously worked in machine learning at KKR and a fintech startup; he holds a BS in math and an MS in computer science from Stanford.

Gabriel Bianconi (CEO) was the chief product officer at Ondo Finance ($10B+ valuation) and previously spent years consulting on machine learning for companies ranging from early-stage tech startups to some of the largest financial firms; he holds BS and MS degrees in computer science from Stanford.

Software Engineer (Backend/Infra)

We’re looking for a strong generalist software engineer comfortable working on a very early product in a quickly changing codebase and role. Our office is in San Francisco and we work in person M-F.
This role will involve working on some feature for our hosting service including authentication, payments, and touching a bit of the open source project as well.

What We Look for:
3+ year of experience in software engineering
Very comfortable writing Python.
Background in contributing to open source software, competitive programming, and/or interesting side projects.
Have set up authentication, payments, and authorization at a previous role.
Passion for open source software and contributing to open source communities.
About the interview:
The entire process is fully remote; all communication will happen via email and video chat.
Once you've submitted your application, the team will review your submission and may reach out for an intro call.
After the intro call, there will be a technical take-home test and then an onsite with 2-3 technical interviews, each around 45 minutes.
Once the interviews are over, the team will meet to discuss several roles and candidates and may be asked one or two follow-up questions over email or a quick call or go directly to make an offer.

The Aktos product is a system of record, and core workflow software, for debt collection agencies. It is structured like a CRM, but it keeps track of delinquent accounts a collection agency is working instead of sales leads. There is a heavy fintech component as well, as we do multiple payment processor integrations.

Aktos is looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer!This person should have 5-8 YOE, know Django, and have some FE experience (they will be 80% backend, 20% FE).This is a pivotal role aimed at building the Operating System for the $18B Credit Collections industry. This position is designed for an engineer with a lean towards backend development (80/20), who is comfortable working across the entire tech stack.Our Senior Fullstack Engineer will collaborate with our CEO, CTO, and other engineers to develop full-stack features and improvements, refine the SDLC &amp; CI/CD pipelines, and maintain the AWS infrastructure. This position is for those who are comfortable with autonomy, ownership, and have a strong work ethic, with a passion for delivering high-quality code and making sound UX decisions.
